Dianne de Las Casas adds an
alligator, a bayou, and some cayenne pepper to her “spiced up” version of the
beloved “Gingerbread Boy” story! Children will find this book very humorous,
whether or not they are already familiar with the original. A helpful glossary, containing French
vocabulary, may be found at the end of the story, as well as a recipe for “Southern
Cornbread”! The illustrations are large
but not very eye-catching.
